Not many communities can claim to have been around for a quarter of a millennium, but Ellsworth can. We had to brush up on our Latin for the proper term for this anniversary: this milestone will be celebrated this summer with a weeklong Sestercentennial celebration commencing Saturday, July 20. For the past nine months, a group of business and community leaders has been meeting and planning to assure this 250th anniversary celebration is one that will make the citizens of Ellsworth and the State of Maine justly proud.Read more...
